May 18 - 28, 2011

Dear Family and Friends,
As May 10 quickly approaches, the ten members for the Ukraine/Russia short term mission team are filled with excitement and anticipation of what the Lord has planned for our one-week in Kiev, Ukraine and 10 days in Russia (Moscow, Ryazan and Vladimir). We are certain of this: God will be glorified! And it will be our joy to participate in His service.

Eight of our Team are members of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and two of our Team are from the mid-west (Wisconsin and Michigan). MPPC’s first Kiev team served in April 2000, and we are now the ninth team. MPPC Teams have been going to Russia each year for almost 20 years.  In Kiev we will be involved in the work of our Mission Partner, EZRA International which brings the message of Christ to the street children in Kiev, feeds them through their programs and attempts to get them into the government shelters or orphanages. Our psychology/art therapy team will be equipping, strengthening and helping the EZRA staff and the staff of the newly created agency, International Leadership and Development Center, develop strong programs that deal with the at-risk children welfare issues in the Ukraine.

The MPPC Team will then travel to Russia to the Ryazan and Vladimir Regions.  While there we will be hosted by our Mission Partner, Children’s Hope Chest and visit the children and staff at the Rybnoe and Vladimir orphanages.
Our team’s vision is
• To touch as many people as possible with the love of Christ
• To continue to lay the ground work for the ministry in Kiev and Rybnoe
• To try, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to live out the teachings of Christ and to let that light shine.
• To share our skills and God given talents with other professionals in the Ukraine and Russia

"The prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective." James 5:16
We could not attempt this mission trip without the prayers and support of you, our family and friends.
