Day 11

The following is the day from Bob’s perspective

PictureWhat a day and what a Birthday Celebration it was.  Lord knows I have had many a Birthday but I believe this year’s celebration ranked in the top 5.

PictureI was standing with our Team in the middle of the Izmaillovo Hotel (Moscow) lobby waiting for interpreters, Natasha, Nastya and Sasha when they rushed in carrying a big Sponge Bob balloon   and a Baskin Robbins Hot Fudge Sundae (my favorite).  Then the whole Team and probably almost everyone in the hotel lobby sang Happy Birthday to a very surprised and red face American.

PictureWe then left by Metro to have lunch and shop at GUM’s Department Store (Sponge Bob went with me).  Afterwards, we (the Team and Sponge Bob) walked Red Square, visited St Basil and Doris and I had our picture taken in Red Square standing in the same spot as we did 21 years ago.

PictureThen, as a Pièce de résistance, we walked over to the Bolshoi and saw a beautiful production of Swan Lake.  We had to leave Sponge Bob outside.  Now that’s a full day of celebrating.

All I can say is short-term mission trips are difficult but sign me up.
