Day 1

Our first full day on the ground in Russia started with a quick team breakfast at the hotel in Moscow. We then loaded up the van and started the trek to Rybnoe. The morning was spent shopping at the market in Rybnoe, stocking up on supplies for both the boys and girls parties, and getting some last minute gifts for the gift bags. Let’s just say the receipt for the venture was of record length and might possibly stretch from Rybnoe back to 950 Santa Cruz. After a quick lunch at the shopping mall the team headed to the ministry center to spend time with the graduates. It was a fun time of getting to know the graduates, learning about the programs that are offered to them, and looking at pictures of the events they participated in throughout the year while enjoying tea and cakes.

The team finally arrived at the orphanage a little after 9pm, and was greeted by a host of orphans. They made short work of emptying the van and installing us in our family unit, before ushering us to dinner. The rapped up with a team meeting discussing the strategy for the week and assigned respective tasks. By 11pm all team members were snuggly tucked in their beds, dreaming of how to be a blessing through the coming week.
