Day 8

Today was an outstanding day!  We had a typical Russian picnic with the kids and staff in the woods just 15 minutes drive from the orphanage.

God blessed us with beautiful weather so we could enjoy a fun obstacle course in the woods, frisbee and volleyball in the open field, singing Russian folk songs around the BBQ, playing an aggressive game of"Eleven" and delicious pork shashlik.

The picnic presented the greatest opportunity thus far to connect with the kids and staff because we were all in one place without a srtuctured schedule and the kids could not disappear to their rooms. Every team member shared great conversation and many laughs throughout the afternoon  with the kids and staff.  God was present in every way and His presence carried into the evening when we returned to the orphanage to enjoy board games after dinner and hugs at prayer time. The kids expressed many thanks for the day's activities and growing friendships and the hugs were a little longer and tighter than the prior evenings.

It is hard to believe that we have just 1 full day left with the kids and we ended our Thursday evening with a prayer for help to maximize the day and our opportunities to continue sharing God's love with the kids.
