Day 7

We awoke to another bright sunny day to spend our last few hours in Cocachacra, some going for a run, some a walk, others just sleeping in or writing that last journal entry before breakfast.

In devotions and prayer this morning we reflected on the events of the week and how each person on the team contributed something uniquely valuable to the effort, each small part individually played contributing to a much greater whole. No one could have been left behind! We also observed how God's kingdom exhibits similar unique gifts and unity despite such vast differences from one culture to another. We could not have done this work without the Peruvian church and they could not have done it without us! A beautiful demonstration of 1 Corinthians 12!

Our drive to Lima along the Rio Rimac took us from one little pueblo to another, gradually increasing in size and population as we neared Lima. We checked into the hotel and then had a relaxing time walking together along a long broad park at the edge of the cliffs overlooking the Pacific at the westernmost edge of the city. High rise apartments and condos of glass and steel, and a very modern, very high end mall overlooking the sea contrasted sharply with the simple houses we had just left behind in Cocachacra.

We had dinner together at Donatello's, an Italian place a short walk from the hotel. Italian with a Peruvian twist! Perfect for that celebratory meal – a little fiesta to remember together all that God had done in the previous days.
