Day 8 in Costa Rica
2 Cor. 4:18 "so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal!"

Team showing their Pura Vida (Pure Life) passionFriday - We are off to our Debriefing site, but not before a group farewell to Sergio and Juanita Acevedo, leaders of the ministry at the Renacer Center downtown. When the Rehab Center opens in the nearby mountains, they will direct the whole operation.

Sergio's story of 15 years in prison for drug and gang activity and miraculousSergio and Family at our farewell conversion, his vision, and his track record, move us. We decide to cover his tuition for a month-long professional training course in building therapeutic communities. The course is offered in Medellin, Colombia, to prepare Resident Directors of programs such as he envisions.  Sergio and Juanita receive the gift with tears of gratitude, then Sergio offers to pray for us. He thanks God for the team's generosity, especially considering the employment challenges faced by several of our members.

A 2 hour bus ride through winding & windy mountain roads takes us to a little town on the Pacific Michael and Maria doing personal journals coast. Here we take time to reflect on what God has done for us and through us. We share the highlights and the difficulties of the week. We pray together, and alone.
We also find time for a remarkable Costa Rican banquet at a local restaurant, complete with a surprise serenade of Mariachis. It's also a surprise to find out that each song costs 1,000 colonnas ($3), but the team, as always, rises to the occasion.
