A Water Cistern project
and a School Children Project were among the projects benefited from our
Christmas Offering in 2000. A China Short Term Mission Team went to south
China and had the privilege to witness the fruit of this fund.
Guangxi is a dry province and water is very precious. The water cisterns
give a significant economic boost to the communities who benefited, allowing
them to take in several harvests each year. Our fund provided forty families
to build 40 water cisterns. The two types of cisterns allow for irrigation
of crops and drinking water. The villagers are very grateful to receive
this gift. Now they have clean water to drink and are sick less often.
What is most exciting is that many families experienced double and even
triple harvests. This certainly has led to the improvement of their lives.
A lot of their children no longer need to help in the fields and instead
are able to attend school.
